Health and Balance Counselling - Helping You Find Your Balance

Maedean Yvonne Myers, MC, RCC

Registered Clinical Counsellor
Associate, Health and Balance Counselling

I believe in empowering you to build on your own skills/talents/abilities and creatively re-purpose them to overcome challenges. I strive to support you through unconditional acceptance, validation of your experience, and effective solution building.

Often the problem situation drives persons into shame and isolation.  I see my role as a counsellor as someone who helps you reconnect to your competencies, strengths, values, or other resources obscured by the fog of distress.  Within a collaborative, growth-oriented working alliance, together we can nurture the resilience and practical tools to cope effectively with whatever obstacles you find are blocking you.  A better life of more inner peace, loving connections, and sense of hope is within your reach.

The specific techniques I use come from Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Gestalt approaches.  Please feel free to ask me to go in more about what those approaches entail, during your free consultation.

Regarding my training, I completed a year of coursework at Vancouver Community College’s Counselling Skills program before going on to complete my Masters in Counselling at the City University of Seattle.  While working at a private school and attending graduate school, I volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club.  There I discovered how much I also love working with teens and now welcome older adolescents as counselling clients.  I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Theatre and when not offering counselling services, teach speech and drama skills to youth.  An avid knowledge seeker, I have also studied in Narrative Therapy, Compassion Cultivation, Stress Reduction (MBSR), and LGBTQ Competency.  I welcome adults and older adolescents from all backgrounds, gender identities, sexual and relational orientations.

I live with my spouse of 10 years in Vancouver.  In my spare time, I love to read, study dance, Buddhism, Qigong, and facilitate workshops incorporating the creative process.

Please email or call me to book a phone consultation or an appointment.  I will respond within 24 hours Monday through Friday and offer a free initial phone consultation.  Please note that I also provide video counselling.
